Jay Davenport has always been interested and stimulated by fine art, especially when the imagery included animals and wildlife. With an encouraging push from his grandfather, Davenport began private instruction at an early age. His enthusiasm and education in the arts did not wane and he later earned an Associates Degree in Painting/Illustration from Luzerne County Community College in Naticoke , Pennsylvania . Davenport 's passion for the traditions of Realism and Trompe L'Oeil led him to further study as an apprentice at The Waichulius Studio in Pennsylvania.

Davenport has participated in many exhibits across the country, some of the awards he has won include, The Bosque Conservatory Silver Medal, numerous awards in Artist Magazine Annual Competitions. His passion for art has also been shown in numerous publications including 2007 Strokes of Genius, The Best of Drawing.

With his strong foundation in representation, Jay's desire to paint the funny and humorous side of animals and how the different things they do relate to the human activity around them. if we would only step back once and awhile and observe and even laugh at ourselves occasionally.
Davenport 's dedication to the craft reflects the promise of his future.
